Blogging is a new trend in our community, with more Malaysians getting internet access. If we want to be serious about blogging, you have to read this article!

Tip 1: Quality Content
Bloggers of successful blogs always put emphasis on quality more then quantity for their articles. Steve from stevepavlina.com shared a tip on what he does everytime he intends to write an article for his blog. In his article on “How To Build A High Traffic Web Site (or Blog)”, Steve said and I quote, “When I sit down to write, I sometimes imagine myself standing on an outdoor concert stage before an audience of a million people. Then I ask myself, What shall I say to this audience of a million people?”

Tip 2: Hard Work
If you want to create a successful blog, you can never be lazy. Producing an article whenever you feel like it won’t bring traffic to your blog. Mert Erkal the owner of searchblogging.com in his article on “How I Quadrupled My Blog’s Traffic In 3 Months” mentioned that he dedicated nearly 3 hours daily to his blog for 3 months while having a 9-17 job. There is no easy way to build a successful blog then to spend time and effort on it. As the saying goes: “You reap what you sow”.

Tip 3: Blogging Intentions
Blog because you are truly interested in blogging. If you blog to share your experience or provide quality contents for your readers, by all means go ahead. If you blog with the intentions of making money from it, you’ll never produce contents that are worthy of a read by your readers. Your true intentions will reflect directly on your contents. You might not realize it, but your readers will.

Tip 4: Setting Goals For Your Blog
This is an important characteristic that all successful bloggers have. Bloggers set realistic goals and targets for their blog and strive towards achieving them. If you have set a target to produce one post a day for you blog, stick to that target without fail. Remember to set goals that are achievable and have an action plan for each of those goals.

Tip 5: Marketing Yourself And Your Blog
What it means here is to make your blog and yourself known to the blogging community. You can start with promoting your blog at blogging forums, treat your readers as friends, provide help and advise when the need arises, visit blogs of your readers and give honest comments when you visit other blogs. The main objective is to make your blog a nice place to visit as well as creating a warm relationship between your readers and you.
