    The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) is now known as the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI and adopts the FTSE global index standard from 6 July 2009 onwards. FTSE publishes comprehensive index rules and calculation methodology to support all indices. They are maintained by FTSE Committees and any changes are widely publicised. By using these index rules, all of us can predict how FTSE will deal with corporate actions and other changes to indices. This ensures FTSE indices are transparent and keeps down the cost of managing funds and products based on them.

    Easy Personal Finance: 5 Yes! And 4 No!

    Posted on the December 23rd, 2009 under Book, Investment, Savings, Retirement, Software by (Beaulife) Altis Lo

    YES! Invest your money on different financial products, stocks, bonds etc. It is important to make your savings grow along time in order to beat inflation and let your money work for you rather than you working for your money.

    NO! Do not let your money stand still because currency loses value with time and thus, the same amount that would let your purchase a yacht today will not serve the same purpose in the future. Inflation may not be that high but if you let the money stand still it can lose half of its value in as little as ten years due to inflation.

    Retirement planning: Plan your retirement for income through mutual fund investment.

    Retirement Fund

    Retirement Fund

    Most of the people I have met have not planned for their retirement as they say future is unpredictable and we need to live in present but my dear friend’s future is the outcome of present, our present will decide our future. When we think of retirement we generally think of old age, a period when you have to give up the job and sit at home doing nothing. Contrary to the fact, most of the retiree lives a very active life. We need to seriously consider out planning towards retirement because once we retiree our income stops coming but our expenses remain as it is and in some cases it rises with the rising inflation. In this regard mutual fund has turned out to be the right answer for making retirement planning easier and safer. Mutual fund being managed by professionals is a key to effective retirement planning.

    Simple Steps to Prevent Credit Card Fraud

    Posted on the July 1st, 2009 under Investment, Savings, Retirement by (Beaulife) Altis Lo

    Cut Credit Cards

    Cut Credit Cards

    Many people are wary about using their credit cards, especially online, because of the possibility of becoming a victim of fraud. While fraud does happen, and costs hundreds of millions every year, there are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself and make it unlikely that you’ll become a victim.

    * Online use

    The most important rule to follow is to only use your card online at trusted, secure sites. You can recognize a secure site by looking for a yellow padlock symbol appearing in your browser, and also by the address starting with ‘https’ rather than ‘http’. Sites secured like this encrypt all the information sent back and forth to your browser, meaning that it’s very dificult indeed for someone to spy out your credit card details.
